The Argentine goalkeeper has played every domestic cup game in his time at Manchester City and feels the manager will make the right decision for Sunday's League Cup final
Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero insists he does not yet know whether he will play Sunday's League Cup final against Liverpool, but is certain that Manuel Pellegrini will make the "correct decision".
Caballero has played in all of City's domestic cup matches since joining from Malaga in 2014, but some fans have called for the Argentine to be dropped in favour of regular No.1 Joe Hart for the Wembley clash against Liverpool.
The 34-year-old had a difficult time against Chelsea in FA Cup last weekend, when he played behind a very youthful City line-up in a 5-1 defeat, but says he has been preparing for Sunday's game ever since the Blues' place in the final was assured, and appears confident he will be on the teamsheet.
"I think it's a question for Manuel," he told reporters on Friday. "I have to accept every decision because he's the boss. I've played every game in this cup, but his decision will be correct.
"I have been thinking about this game for a long time, since we won against Everton. We've been training very hard for this game and I am ready for it."
Although he insists he is prepared to enter the fray whenever called upon, he has seen Premier League action on just four occasions in his time at the club and he admits it can be hard to play second fiddle.
"Yes," he said when asked if it is a difficult situation, "but you have to accept it because that's the life of a second keeper. It's hard but we have to be ready and hopefully I get the opportunity."
But he says the fact he gets relatively few opportunities will in fact give him confidence on Sunday, a game he acknowledges would be the biggest of his career: "Yes I am [confident] because the pressure is the same as it always is for me.
"I am training really hard. You train hard. But when you don't play every week the pressure is even more when you are called up. It's not difficult for me."
