GMC has reimagined the Acadia for its second generation making it smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient, while adding a suite of new features.

It continues to offer three rows of seats in most models, with buyers having the option of five-, six-, and seven-passenger versions, while cargo capacity has increased by 9 cubic feet. However, it’s now more squarely positioned in the heart of the midsize segment.

Future customers will be able to order it with an entry-level 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the output of which was not announced, along with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 19hp more than its predecessor, at 310hp. Both powertrains are connected to a six-speed automatic.

The new Acadia will be built at the GM's Spring Hill, Tennessee, facility, with globally sourced parts. Sales will start in spring of 2016, at as of yet, undisclosed prices.
