Chelsea’s on-loan midfielder Charly Musonda insists he wants to stay at Real Betis for another season.

Musonda has made an immediate impact since joining Betis on loan at the end of January, with the Spanish club unbeaten the six league games in which the 19-year-old has started in.

The attacking midfielder has not yet made his senior debut for Chelsea but believes staying at Betis would be more beneficial to his career than to return to Stamford Bridge in order to feature for the reserve team.

“I want to stay at Betis. It’s in my head now, but next year I don’t know what will happen,” he told Canal Sur.

“I’m happy here, the Béticos want me. You never know about the future, but it’s possible that I can stay. It’s better to play here than in Chelsea’s second team.
“My favourite clubs are from here, from Spain. Since I was young I liked Barcelona and Real Madrid. I learned Spanish so I could come here. I play for Betis and I am happy."

Musonda recently rejected a call-up to Zambia’s national team, and amid claims that Belgium boss Marc Wilmots is keeping an eye on his ahead of Euro 2016, the midfielder maintains his options are open.

“I could play for Belgium, Zambia and England. I never lived in Zambia,” he said.

“The decision will be made in the future. I am the one who decides about it. With my father do not talk about football, he tells me to stay focused and enjoy.”
