The Dutch coach believes the attacking midfielder offers better solutions than some of those at Guus Hiddink's disposal and believes he would fit in at the Premier League side

Chelsea have missed a great opportunity to boost their options in attacking midfield by not signing Twente star Hakim Ziyech, according to Foppe de Haan.

The 22-year-old Dutch-born Morocco international has either scored or assisted 18 of his side's 27 goals in the Eredivisie this term, courting interest from many teams across Europe.

Ziyech has made no secret of his desire to leave the financially unstable Enschede team following the sacking of Alfred Schreuder in the early stages of the campaign.

However, the No.10 opted to stay in January, rejecting interest from other sides in order to help his team out of the relegation playoff places.

And the current coach of Ziyech's former team Heerenveen believes he would be a good addition to Guus Hiddink's Premier League side.

"If I were Guus Hiddink, I would have taken him," he told De Telegraaf.

"He fits Chelsea. With the solutions that he comes up with he is better than other players who are currently there.

"He can absolutely succeed there. Hakim can also play as a striker so he can set the goals up and also score himself easily.

"Some guys are so talented that they look anywhere and see a challenge. Hakim is like that."

Ziyech has scored 11 goals and set up seven in the Dutch top flight this season and has had more shots on target than any other player in the league.
