The former Liverpool defender sent his ex-colleague a message of support after he picked up his first league win in charge of Valencia as they beat Espanyol 2-1
Jamie Carragher joked that Denis Cheryshev saved Gary Neville's managerial career after the winger gave him his first league win in charge of Valencia.
The 25-year-old scored the winner as los Che came from behind to beat Espanyol 2-1 in La Liga and end a winless run of 10 league games.
Neville had gone into the game under huge pressure and Carragher was quick to congratulate his former Premier League rival with a tongue in cheek message on Twitter.
Twenty-six years ago Mark Robins scored the winning goal for Manchester United in an FA Cup third round win over Nottingham Forest in 1990 to ease the pressure on Alex Ferguson.
Prior to the game there had been huge speculation that the former United boss would be fired if the club were knocked out of the competition, only for Robins to come to his rescue.
