In excess of 110,000 Chrysler minivans and crossovers are being recalled due to potentially corroded airbag control units.

The recall affects 112,001 units in the United States of the 2009 Dodge Journey, 2008-09 Dodge Grand Caravan and the 2008-09 Chrysler Town and Country.

Unrelated to the ongoing Takata airbag recalls, the corroded airbag control unit could restrict the airbags from deploying in a crash. The faulty control unit could even deploy the airbags prematurely, therefore increasing the risk of injury to the driver.

While no accidents have been caused by the airbag module, seven people have suffered minor injuries due to the issue.

To fix it, the airbag module will be replaced free of charge.
