The President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Worldwide, Pastor Gabriel Lagunju, yesterday called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to avoid tribalism in his day-to-day running of the country.
Lagunju described tribalism as the root of the problems in Nigeria.
The cleric made the pronouncement while delivering the sermon to mark the 2015 Annual General Convention of the church with the theme, “The End Time Events”, held at the CAC, Ile Anu, Alasepe, Ikire in Osun State.
Pastor Lagunju whose sermon was delivered by Pastor Henry Ojo, stated that the country will not stop to find it difficult to take its rightful place in the comity of nations unless the fight against nepotism is taken seriously such that Nigerians irrespective of their tribe will see themselves as one.
He stated Nigeria is blessed by God with all that it needs to make it great, noting that the leadership of the country should make it a point of duty to work so that all issues of tribalism will become things of the past.
Pastor Lagunju urged the president to give more room for church in the country to grow, stating that the church is the gate that can put a stop to the works of the devil in the country.
He said, “I am appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to avoid the pitfalls of the past administrations by running away from tribalism and nepotism, so that the country can move forward. I believe that it is a known fact tribalism has drawn the clock of the country back in many areas.
“It is also important for the President to give the necessary support to the church in Nigeria to rise up to play the role expected of them in standing in the gap for the country, more so when it is understand that without the church, Satan will be happy to have a field day and bring problems to the country.”
He then assured that the CAC as a church will not stop to pray for the success of the present administration in the country, maintaining that the church is happy with the steps so far taken by the administration, most especially in the fight against corruption which he stated has eaten deep into all the fabrics of the nation.
The CAC President however called on Buhari to make the fight against corruption a total one and bring those that have soiled their hands to justice irrespective of their tribe or political affiliation.
