The 1972 crime drama classic has been recreated with AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi in the titular role. It will be released in full in animated form on Saturday
Who says movie remakes are never as good as the originals?! Ahead of Sunday's 88th Academy Awards, director Omar Momani and screenwriter Carlo Garganese have produced a new version of 1972 crime drama classic The Godfather.
With Silvio Berlusconi in the titular role, it tells the story of the shady AC Milan president’s attempt to maintain power amidst the unscrupulous and under-handed world of Italian football.
Berlusconi leads an all-star cast also featuring Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Ronaldo and even guest appearances from United States president Barack Obama and Russia president Vladimir Putin.
All the iconic passages from the original movie will be recreated, including the wedding portrait, the horse's head scene, the 'leave the gun, take the cannoli' section and ultimately Berlusconi's handover of power to one of his 'sons'.
On Saturday, the film will be released in full, animated form on Goal and as a Facebook video.
So forget about Leonardo Di Caprio and The Revenant - it's Silvio Berlusconi’s modern portrayal of Don Vito Corleone that could be leading a clean sweep of Oscars this weekend!
