Antonio Conte has demanded his players play with "aggression and intensity" after their 1-0 victory against Liverpool in a fiercely contested International Champions Cup match.

Cesc Fabregas was sent off and six other players were cautioned in the clash between the two Premier League clubs in California, which was decided by an early Gary Cahill goal.

And though he apologised for Fabregas' red card, Conte has admitted his double training sessions have been designed to create a specific style of play.

“Yes, I like if my team plays with great aggressivity (aggression) and high intensity, Conte said. "I like to see that. We train to prepare for that because I want that my team has an identity.

"I want that if you see Chelsea, you recognize 'oh, Chelsea are playing'. That is important for me, it is important for the club and the owner – everyone."

He added: "This is my football and everywhere I have been I have worked at that. I always gave an identity to my teams.

"I am searching to transfer this to my players. I am pleased because I see a great attitude.

"I want to continue in this way because this is the only way to come back very soon for the title. Not to speak, but actions. Now is not the moment to talk.”

Chelsea are preparing to face Real Madrid in Michigan before they end their ICC tour in Minneapolis against AC Milan.
