Former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retired), has dragged the Department of State Services (DSS) to court to protest his continued detention.

Dasuki is asking the court for a mandatory order directing the Department of State Services to remove all human and non-human barricades and or siege laid around and about his residence.

As stated by him, the siege had hindered the accomplishment of the orders of the court which gave him permission to travel abroad for medical reasons.

Dasuki is also asking the court to extend its order which allowed him leave to travel, as the said time had been breached by the situation created by the DSS around his residence.

He also prayed the court to order that, except for specific circumstances, Colonel Dasuki be allowed to be absent from the hearing of his case on the ground that the security of his life and property was constantly being threatened.

The former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan is facing trial for possession of fire arms without license.

The crime, according to the DSS, is punishable under Section 27(i)(a)(i) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 LFN 2004.
