An appeal court sitting in Lagos, yesterday granted bail, in the sum of two million naira, to former Nigeria beauty queen and actress Ibinabo Fiberesima, who had earlier been convicted of manslaughter by a Lagos High Court.
Before the ruling, the embattled ex-beauty queen, who had appealed her convicted by the Court of Appeal in Lagos on March 11, had through her counsel, Dr Muiz Banire, filed an application for bail pending the determination of the appeal by the Supreme Court.
At the last adjourned hearing, she could not get bail due to what was called incompetent application.
The three-man panel, presided over by Justice Ndukwe-Anyanwu, stated the appellant failed to attach copies of the judgment that was delivered by the court, which affirmed the five years jail sentence imposed on her.
The other Justices on the panel, Samuel Oseji and Tijani Abubakar, unanimously agreed with the decision.
