Court Stops Use Of Nigerian Army During Elections

A Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday ruled against the use of men of the Nigerian Army in the conduct of elections. There had been controversies over the roles of the Nigerian Army which many see as an. athema. Members of the opposition had argued that not only have soldiers been used to intimidate opposition, the practice also runs foul of the Nigerian constitution which clearly stipulates the role of the Army as protectors of the territorial interest of the country.
