Benue State House of Assembly
A Makurdi High Court has given a seven-day notice to the impeached Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, to appear before it.
The court also invited Ikyange’s Deputy, James Okefe; and the Majority Leader, Benjamin Adanyi.
They were invited to explain why they should not be committed to prison for contempt and violation of last Friday’s order, restraining them from parading themselves as principal officers of the state assembly.
In her ruling on an application brought by the 22 PDP lawmakers, Justice Theresa Igoche also renewed the order restraining the aforementioned legislators from further parading themselves as principal officers of the Assembly.
She also ordered the police to vacate the assembly complex.
