Crystal Palace are nearing a deal to sign West Ham defender James Tomkins for an initial fee of Β£10 million, GoalΒ can confirm.
The Eagles are continuing to strengthen their squad after completing the signings of Andros Townsend and goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, and have now targeted a move for Tomkins.
Sources have confirmed that talks are ongoing between the two clubs, with a deal yet to be completed, but it is understood that Tomkins will undergo a medical this weekend, with confirmation of the transfer likely to come next week.
Palace will initially spend Β£10m on Tomkins, who made 25 Premier League appearances last season, but bonuses and clauses could see the deal rise to Β£13m.
The 27-year-old came through the Hammers' academy, having joined the club at the age of seven, and has made 243 appearances for the Hammers.
Palace have also been linked with a Β£25m bid for Christian Benteke as they aim to overhaul their playing staff ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
West Ham, meanwhile, are poised to complete the signing of Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United and will continue to pursue a marquee forward signing.
