Suspected cult members in Asaba have reportedly killed a 20-year-old secondary school leaver identified as Isichei Paul.
The sad event took place on yesterday, November 10, at Okwe quarters in Asaba, Delta State.
a news agency reports that suspected cultists who had been on rampage in the area, murdered the 20-year-old.
Police spokesman, Charles Muka, confirmed the incident, saying: "Residents, who were interviewed, said they heard sound of gunshot, which made them scamper for safety."
Muka added: "The police is, however, on top of the situation and we shall uncover the group of the suspects and bring them to book."
Sources say Paul was killed during a misunderstanding among the suspected cultists.
Investigations reveal that during the face-off, the victim was invited through a telephone call and was held hostage by the suspected cultists.
As the argument escalated, the suspects allegedly descended on the victim and inflicted deep wounds on him.
Not satisfied with the cuts, one of the suspected cultists reportedly shot Paul at close range, living him little or no chance of survival.
