PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Mets rightfielder Curtis Granderson missed the start of Monday morning’s team workouts with what a source termed an eye issue. Granderson reported to camp but departed again well before the Mets took the field for warm-ups.

Granderson, 34, hit .259 with 26 homers and 70 RBIs in 157 games. Though the nature of Granderson’s eye issue is unclear, it’s not uncommon for minor issues to come up during team physicals, which were performed on position players last week. Those issues often call for follow-up appointments. Granderson underwent surgery in November to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, but reported to camp healthy.
