FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Darrelle Revis has already begun contemplating his future — and a position change.

“There will probably be conversations in the future about, maybe, moving my position to safety,” the Jets cornerback said Thursday morning in an interview on WFAN radio. “But as of right now, I still feel I can play at a high level, and play the cornerback position at a high level.”

Some of the game’s best have made the move, going from corner to safety, including Charles Woodson and Rod Woodson.

But while a position shift may be in his not-so-distant future, the Jets aren’t considering making any moves just yet.

“I see him playing corner right now,” Jets coach Todd Bowles said. “I don’t see a future. Right now I just see the present.”

Revis participated in team drills for only the second time in training camp and had a good day.

“He ran better today,” Bowles said of Revis, who had an impressive pass breakup of a Geno Smith throw to Kenbrell Thompkins. “He’s got to get in football shape because he missed a couple days. He was OK overall.”

But Revis acknowledged on-air that his right wrist injury last season, which required surgery in March, hindered his trademark bump-and-run coverage — thereby affecting his overall game.

“It was pretty bad,” he said. “But I fought through it. As long as I can run and continue to do my job and not be a distraction or hinderance to the defense, [I’ll play]. Sometimes I had to overcompensate with the left arm. When I’d try to jam, I would use the left hand as a guidance and then try to bring my right hand into it. In the past, that was one of my biggest strengths of my game — the ability to play bump and run.”

Forte likely out for preseason opener

“It’s safe to say” that running back Matt Forte (hamstring) will miss Thursday’s preseason opener against Jacksonville, Bowles said. Though he insisted Forte hasn’t suffered a setback, the plan remains to take things slow. As for whether their No. 1 back will miss the Sept. 11 regular-season opener against the Bengals, the coach said: “Right now, he’s not in jeopardy of missing any time. But we’ll see as the days go by.”

Wilkerson update

Muhammad Wilkerson gave an update on his injured leg. “I’m feeling pretty good. The leg is getting better each and every day. I’ll be ready for Week 1,” he said. “The only thing I can’t do is the limits you have on the PUP. I can’t hit shields and things like that.”

Jet-cetera

Thursday was a rest day for Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and David Harris. Smith took first-team reps in Fitzpatrick’s absence . . . Quarterback Bryce Petty had a good day, tossing three touchdowns, including an 80-yard bomb to Jalin Marshall . . . Running back Matthew Tucker was signed and running back Terry Williams, who was signed on Wednesday, was waived.
