Former Senate president, David Mark couldn’t hold back his tears yesterday, as he wept over the sudden death of Senator Pwajok.
The late Pwajok who was a gubernatorial candidate at the last general elections in Plateau State was stated to have died of Kidney disease at an undisclosed hospital in India.
The immediate past Senate president, who described Pwajok as one of the youngest and brightest senators during the 7th Senate, lamented that Pwajok was a gentleman who exhibited uncommon commitment and patriotism to the ideals of nationhood.
His words: “Senator Pwajok was truly a distinguished Senator who was very committed and passionate about the welfare, Security and development of Nigeria.
“His death at this time is tragic. It is even more devastating when one recalls that late Pwajok only came to the Senate to complete the tenure of his predecessor, late Senator Gyang Dalyop, Dantong who met his death during one of the ethno-religious conflicts in the troubled Plateau State.
“This is a huge loss to the people of Plateau state and the nation at large. It is regretable that Pwajok died at a time when his services were most needed to navigate through the murky political terrain.
“He has left a huge vacuum. We shall miss him especially for his frank and unbiased disposition to national issues.”
Senator Mark condoled with the government and people of Plateau State over the sad loss.
He also urged the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that their loved one lived a short but accomplished life which was worthy of emulation.
He added that Pwajok was a man with great vision for the nation, a patriot whose name and achievements are edged forever in the annals of history.
Meanwhile, sympathizers have thronged the residence of the deceased to condole with the family of the deceased.
Newsmen who visited the home in Du, Jos South Local Government area, on today, report that the family compound and its vicinity were filled with distraught mourners.
People also reportedly gathered in groups discussing the development in hushed tones.
Some of the mourners described Pwajok’s death as “simply unbelievable”.
“We had no inkling of any sickness, only to be hit with the news that he is dead,” an elderly fellow, Ajas Zang, told .
A youth, Amos Dungd described Pwajok’s exit as “very confusing”.
“He was always around the youths and cared for us.
“He gave us a listening ear and was quick to come to our aid whenever we were in need,” he said,
Another respondent, a female teacher, amid sobs said: “he mingled freely with everybody and related with all smoothly irrespective of age or social status.”
Pwajok represented Plateau North in the 7th National Assembly.
A former university lecturer, Pwajok was previously the Director-General in charge of Research and Planning in the Plateau Government House, before he was appointed Chief of Staff to Gov. Jonah Jang.
