Clearly feeling restless during a flight back to London after his side's 1-0 victory over Sunderland on Wednesday night, the Blues' goalscorer had to find a way to entertain himself.
He eventually did so at the expense of club physio Marcelo Ribeiro, who will think twice about sitting in front of the Spain international again.
The video, uploaded to Instagram by team mate Willian, shows Costa dangling his chewing gum over the face of Ribero, who had tried to catch a quick snooze during the hour-long trip, wakening the physio up suddenly.
Ribero appears to take the joke well while Costa can be heard laughing at his reaction like a school-boy.

The forward has been involved in a number of controversial incidents since joining England but is clearly emerging more from his hardened shell in recent weeks.
He was filmed enjoying a post-match beer in the changing room after the Blues beat West Brom 1-0, and on Wednesday he was pictured playing on the pitch with Bradley Lowery, a five-year-old Sunderland fan who is battling cancer.
