It is unknown if both scenes were to take place in Episode VIII, or Episode IX, or one in each; however insiders claim Fisher was set to play a much bigger part in the finale than the middle.

All of Carrie Fisher's scenes in for Episode VIIIin its current formhave reportedly been completed.

However, a complete re-write is not out of the question; Rogue One for example, which reportedly ran into screenplay problems, was given a massive overhaul, with the eventual end result delighting critics and fans alike.

Rian Johnsonwho is directing Episode VIIIalso admitted revamping his film after he based the story on an early draft of JJ Abrams's The Force Awakens, which ended up being a very different film upon completion.

The one option that fans and studio alike seem least keen to broach is recasting to role; Disney was wisely insistent on rehiring the original actors to play roles that easily could have been filled by others, such as Kenny Baker's R2-D2 and Peter Mayhew's Chewbacca.

'Movies are about fooling people into believing there's a reality going on, and it's all about how well you do that. It's irrelevant if you are actually there.

'I'm in Rogue One, but I did that 40 years ago, but it doesn't really matter. What matters is the fact people are watching and going: "Yeah that's cool".'
