After Fernando Alonso’s horrifying Formula 1 accident at the Australian Grand Prix, here's another reminder that racing is a potentially dangerous sport.

Competing last weekend in a GT Tour race at Circuit Paul Armagnac (also known as Circuit de Nogaro) in France, Sacha Bottemanne suffered a gruesome collision with the wall at roughly 230 Km/h after unsuccessfully trying to pass another 458 GT3.

Bottemanne was fighting for the 7th position when his Ferrari was thrown off-balance after bumping into his fellow racer’s car, losing control and hitting the barrier.

On impact, the Prancing Horse shattered in a million pieces, but once it came to a full stop the driver immediately got out, even in a rather unusually way: through its smashed windshield.

The driver is at first seen limping to the side of the track, but he luckily escaped with just a few bruises. Thankfully, once again, the only thing harmed was the car, a testimony to modern safety standards set by the FIA not just in F1 but all forms of motorsport.
