Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s lawyer, Chukwuma- machukwu Ume (SAN), has disclosed that his client was arrested by the DSS over alleged gunrunning and aiding the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday, Ume stated the allegations had been contained in a search warrant used to raid the lawmakers residence in Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja.
The lawyer stated the search operation lasted six hours, between 5pm and 11:15pm on Friday.
Ume stated: “Of all of the 27 objects seized and brought away, none may very well be all they wished to see by way of arms and ammunition or saved baggage of ‘Ghana Must Go’ for sponsoring the stated IPOB.
“Unfortunately two of the 27 objects embrace the 2 handsets of two USA residents discovered within the residence. One of the laptops taken included that of an educationist containing examination questions slated to be set for college students on June 25, 2018.
“All pleas for these questions to be copied were refused.”
Abaribe, the surety to lacking IPOB chief Nnamdi Kanu, is to seem in courtroom on June 26, 2018.
