Senate President, Bukola Saraki
Senate President, Bukola Saraki has condemned the reversal of the decision by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA ) to allow Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s presidential declaration at the Eagle Square, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Famzn News had reported earlier that the refusal of the FCTA to allow the Kwankwaso Campaign Organization access the venue, even after payment was made, came a day before the event was scheduled to hold.
After the refusal, the Spokesperson for the former Kano State governor, Binta Sipikin, confirmed that the ceremony would now hold at Chida Hotel in Utako, Abuja.
Apparently displeased with the development, Saraki took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express dissatisfaction with the decision.
The Senate President noted that the decision “sends a wrong message about our democracy”, particularly the “tolerance level” in the country’s politics.
“The refusal to allow Senator Kwankwaso’s campaign to utilize Eagle Square for his declaration, despite an earlier approval, sends a wrong message about our democracy, particularly the tolerance level in our politics. Eagle Square belongs to all Nigerians”, Saraki posted on Twitter.
