Ebonyi State House of Assembly, EBSHA, has suspended a member, Mrs Maria Nwachi representing Afikpo North/East constituency in the Assembly for engaging in public photography business.
Mrs. Nwachi was also suspended for alleged gross misconduct.
The suspension followed a motion moved by the Leader of the House, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi representing Ezza North East constituency and seconded by Hon Franca Okpo representing Abakaliki North constituency.
Based on what was gathered, the embattled lawmaker was earlier warned by the Assembly to desist from being a photographer in the state public functions but she continued.
Mrs Nwachi was suspended for 14 days pending the time when the committee constituted by the House to investigate the allegation against her conclude its report.
Hon. Joseph Nwobasi while moving the motion noted that Hon. Nwachi was reported to have refused from taking photographs in a public functions even when the Assembly warned her against such dehumanizing activities which according to him was not fit for an honourable member.
The Assembly noted that Nwachi, has brought disrespect and dishonesty to herself and the Assembly by bringing her image and integrity to the mud by posing as public photographer”, he group.
Recall that Nwachi was elected in 2015 under the platform of Progressives People’s Alliance(PPA) but defected to the PDP last year.
She was present at the Assembly plenary where she was suspended.
This is the second time Nwachi is being suspended by the assembly for either gross misconduct or other issues.
