The right-back is set to be drafted in to help the Stadium of Light club in their battle against relegation from the Premier League after they were impressed by his attitude
Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue is set to move to Sunderland until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old right-back, who was most recently with Galatasaray, is set to help the Stadium of Light club in their quest to avoid relegation after three weeks training with Sam Allardyce’s men.
Under-21 coach Andy Welsh has been impressed with the contribution the Ivory Coast international has made around the club and has praised his attitude after playing with the youth side against Leicester on Monday.
"I was talking to him and he was saying that’s the first 90 minutes he’s had in more than a year," Welsh is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
"He showed a good attitude and he looked better as the game wore on. He found his feet.
"He’s been good around the dressing room with the younger players, helping them, so I’ve got no complaints."
After a midweek draw with Crystal Palace, the Black Cats lie 19th in the English top flight and are outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.
