The Edo State Special Security Squad Against Cultism and Kidnapping has arrested 20 suspected cultists during operation clamp down on cultists, kidnappers and other vices in the state.

The squad is made up of the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), hunters, vigilante groups, and repentant cultists, among other critical stakeholders. 

The suspects were arrested following a raid on criminal hideouts in Isiohor, Iguosa, Oluku, Ibiwe/Lagos Street, and other hideouts for criminals, where the suspects were arrested in possession of hard drugs, dangerous weapons, and other incriminating materials.

Speaking on behalf of the squad, John Adewale Eseikhaigbe stated the move will help to reduce criminal activities and ensure safety for all.

“Following the recent killings in Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo set up the squad and gave a marching order that armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and other social vices bringing disrepute to the state must be a thing of the past.”
