The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Ondo state, Clement Faboyede.
He was arraigned on Friday together with one Modupe Adetokunbo, the Director-General of the PDP Campaign Organization within the state over the last normal elections.
They had been each introduced earlier than a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on three counts of cash laundering to the tune of N500 million.
In the cost, the EFCC‘s Deputy Chief Detective Superintendent, Ekene Iheanacho alleged that Faboyede, Modupe Adetokunbo and others at giant had, on or about March 27, 2015, conspired amongst themselves to just accept money cost within the sum of N500million from one Owolanke Micheal, with out going via a monetary establishment.
The offence is alleged to be opposite to Section 1, of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act 1 of 2012) and punishable underneath part 16(2) of the identical Act.
The two defendants pleaded not responsible to the cost, and the prosecuting counsel, Iheanacho, urged the courtroom to remand them in jail custody and to repair a date for trial to start.
The defence counsel, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Eyitayo Jegede, nonetheless urged the courtroom to confess the defendants to bail.
Justice Saliu Saidu has requested him to file a formal utility for bail and ordered that the defendants be remanded in jail custody until then.
