The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday, arrested former Sokoto Governor Attahiru Bafarawa after weeks of evading arrest from the antigraft agency.
Bafarawa is alleged to have been used by former President Goodluck Jonathan and former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) to launder over N4.1billion in federal funds meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram.
His whereabout is, however, believed to have been facilitated by his son who was picked up yesterday by the EFCC.
Bafarawa, who is now undergoing interrogation by EFCC investigators in Abuja had on November 17 escaped arrest after about three-hour siege on his Usuma Street, Abuja residence by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr. Bafarawa and 15 others, mostly his aides while he was a governor, have been facing trial since they left office in 2007 for alleged misappropriation of public funds totalling N15 billion.
