Brigadier-General-Momoh

The Nigerian Army has reportedly retired Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh.

His retirement might not be unconnected with his role in the last controversial governorship election in Ekiti State in 2014.

Minister of Defence, Dan Ali, made this disclosure in an interview in Washington, DC.

Ali was in the United States as part of the Nigerian delegation to a nuclear power summit convened by President Barack Obama of the United States of America.

He noted that the army decided to initiate the process of rusticating General Momoh, who was indicted last year by a military panel.

General Momoh was accused of leading a contingent of soldiers and other security agencies, to Ekiti State and reportedly intimidated voters in favour of Ayo Fayose.

A former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, was allegedly used as a conduit to transfer huge sums of money for the election.

Army Acting Director of Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, also confirmed last night that Brigadier Momoh had been retired from the Army.
