Emir of Zaria, Dr Shehu Idris
The Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, on Thursday urged his subjects on the need to follow due process in obtaining loan for agriculture.
Idris made this known during a Traditional Sallah Homage, locally known as Gaisuwan Fada, on the Emir at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Idris, represented by Sarkin Fulanin Zazzau, Alhaji Barau Aliyu-Damau, said the call became necessary in view of the importance of agriculture to human existence.
The emir emphasized the need for farmers to organise themselves into cooperatives to benefit from series of agricultural loan facilities instituted by the present administration.
The emir said also that there was need to check the menace of drug abuse in the society especially among youths and women.
He said it was regrettable that women now indulge in drug abuse, adding that such attitude was a setback to ensuring decent society.
Idris advised parents to always ensure proper upbringing of their children toward building a sound and healthy society.
He appreciated his subjects for conducting themselves during the Sallah which culminated into a hitch-free celebration, and urged them to sustain the tempo.
