The Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Alhaji Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro III, died in a German hospital yesterday after a brief illness.
The popularity of the emir came to fore when he endowed the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu the title “Jagaban”, meaning “Leader of warriors”.
Also, the emir shortly after the general election visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja where he felicitated with him.
It was an avenue where Buhari commended the emir's forgiving spirit having detained him while investigating corrupt leaders during his regime between 1983 and 1985.
