“Tom has been in Roy Hodgson’s thoughts for a long long time,” said Martinez.
“Before he signed Tom was part of the England set up and has real good experience in that group. I think it is a good idea that the England camp get together and they can review what they have done and prepare and have a bit of a vision going forward “From our point of view it shows the strength that we have in that group and going forward maybe one or two more can help the England team if needed.”
Ross Barkley, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and John Stones have also been asked to attend the summit at St George’s Park.
Martinez, meanwhile, has tipped Leicester to hold their nerve and win the Premier League title.
“If you were to going to guarantee that starting XI, then I would say ‘yes.’ I think it would be Leicester’s to lose it,” he said.
“Unfortunately in football you cannot guarantee that everyone is going to be fully fit or fit or not suspended. Every team has one or two players who are very influential in what they do. I just feel now that in mid-february if Leicester were to keep everyone fit the title would be Leicester’s to lose. That would be an incredible achievement and they deserve a lot of credit to be in this position.”
