Ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger is training with Liverpool with a view to joining the Reds on a permanent basis.
Manninger, now 39, played under Arsene Wenger for five years between 1997 and 2002 and was most recently with Augsburg.
He has joined up with Jurgen Klopp's squad as a potential third-choice goalkeeper after Danny Ward was loaned out to Championship side Huddersfield Town.
New signing Loris Karius will compete with Simon Mignolet to be Klopp's No.1 but the German may need to sign an emergency backup if Adam Bogdan leaves.
Wigan Athletic are interested in acquiring the Hungarian, whom Ward overtook in the pecking order last season, and if Manninger impresses he could subsequently be in line for a short-term contract.
