Stefano Domenicali is officially the new Lamborghini boss, replacing long-time CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
Domenicali will assume the role in Lamborghini as of March 15, leaving his VP position for ‘New Business Initiatives’ at Audi.
This is the last episode in Group VW’s reform plan which seeks a new corporate culture amid the emissions scandal.
"I'm very excited to be taking on the challenges of this great legacy,” said Domenicali. “It is now my duty to continue the successes that my predecessor Stephan Winkelmann achieved for Automobili Lamborghini."
Under Winkelmann’s reign, Lamborghini enjoyed a huge growth, with sales more than doubled and the turnover more than tripled. The dealer network has also tripled and now includes 135 dealers in 50 countries.
Winkelmann is also responsible for the future Urus SUV model, set to be launched in 2018 and with 500 new jobs to be created at the Sant’Agata factory.
Domenicali may have some big shoes to fill however, given his past, we feel that Lamborghini is in great hands.
