Ex-Kano Governor, Shekarau Joins APC From PDP

Ibrahim Shekarau

A former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has finally dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Shekarau’s media aide, Sule Ya’u Sule, confirmed the development in an interview with Daily Trust on Tuesday.

Sule said his principal decided to leave the opposition party after meeting with his supporters.

His words: “I want to confirm to you that Shekarau has decided to defect from PDP to APC due to the injustice meted on him and his supporters by the leadership of the PDP”.

Sule also confirmed that Shekarau has met with the governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje on his move to the APC.

“My boss met with Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in Abuja yesterday and concluded plan for our return to APC. He will meet with all the stakeholders concerned in Kano before going public on the defection,” he also said.

The media aide said it was impossible for Shekarau and his supporters to remain in the PDP, noting that the PDP leadership is dancing to the tune of Kwankwaso at the detriment of other PDP stakeholders in Kano.
