The 20-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the club's first-choice stars and has now set his sights on breaking into the Three Lions squad under Sam Allardyce
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is targeting his first England senior cap after establishing himself in Chelsea's first-team. The 20-year-old midfielder has featured for England at every age group, and has also won trophies such as the FA Youth Cup and the Uefa Youth League in the Blues' highly-rated academy. Loftus-Cheek has been deployed as a striker in pre-season by manager Antonio Conte and, while he admits that he is still getting used to the new position, he has set his sights on impressing new Three Lions boss Sam Allardyce. "I have to aim for that [an England call up]," Loftus-Cheek told Goal. "I am not pressuring myself to do that because it is a big step and I am not playing regularly enough to do that at the moment at Chelsea." "My aim now is to play as much as I can for the first team at Chelsea. And then when I am in the team then I can aim to start pushing for the England first team, yes." "If you are playing for Chelsea and you are starting for Chelsea, you should have a good chance to play for England as Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world."
Loftus-Cheek won the Toulon Tournament with England's youth team and earned the best player award, while the senior side were knocked out of Euro 2016 by Iceland at the first knockout stage. > ..... - Goal
