Manuel Pellegrini's men started the weekend in second place but would be miles ahead if they could turn it on when it matters - with NO WINS against their five closest rivals

At the start of the season, many pundits pointed to Manchester City as the best example of a deep, high-quality squad with a great chance on paper of recapturing the Premier League trophy.

But as Leicester City, of all teams, celebrated an incredible 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium which put them six points clear at the top of the table, City must now ask themselves serious questions about their performances against their title rivals - because it is in these games where their chances of glory are being thrown away.

After Saturday's shocking result, Manuel Pellegrini's side have now played seven games against their fellow members of the top six - and have yet to win a single one of them.

Are these just isolated incidents - seven of them - or are City too much of a team of flat-track bullies? The good news is that they will get chances for revenge against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United - but the bad news is that such a difficult run-in, on top of Champions League and cup commitments, could hardly be in more contrast to Leicester's.
