The Federal University of Oye Ekiti in Ekiti State has been closed as college students protested faculty charges fee earlier than writing examinations.
A press release by the Acting Registrar of the establishment Oyeyimika Koyejo-Fasakin, mentioned the transfer was to stop breakdown of regulation and order
She mentioned, “The University Management has observed with concern the evolving points which encompass the scholars’ protest as regards the continued semester examinations.
“The administration has responded by acceding to many of the calls for which have spawned the protests.
“And as a mark of additional goodwill, the Vice-Chancellor was billed to carry an assembly with the scholars’ representatives at 13:00 hours on Tuesday, 15th May 2018.
“Prior to all these, administration had granted a Three-day lecture free interval to permit college students organise with their mother and father and guardians as regards their charges.
“But regardless of all these measures of goodwill, a few of the college students have nonetheless determined to show the University into a theatre for disco music and different non-academic actions which have the potential to trigger a breakdown of regulation and order.
“It is in opposition to this background that the college has been shut down till normalcy is restored to campus.
“Please learn that the University Management shouldn't be insensitive to the plight of scholars who're but to totally pay their charges and solely dialogue can resolve a matter similar to this.
“Lastly, we apologise to all our law-abiding students who are having to contend with the brunt of this episode. The resumption of normal academic activities will be communicated in due course.”
