BuhariThe Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackle corruption at all levels by strengthening weak systems of accountability which has created room for corruption to thrive in the country.

Speaking in Abuja at a one day Anti-Corruption Summit, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Research, Mr Sylvester Imhanobe, stated corruption has had a destructive impact with a huge level of illicit asset flight that has impoverished Nigerians.

He stated the Federal Government is determined to overcome every political resistance that has caused limited progress.

Conveners of the Summit, Mwambu Wanedaya and Jude Ilo, appealed to all Nigerians and their foreign collaborators to team up with the Federal Government in its quest to stamp out corruption in the country.

On his part, the Head of United Kingdom’s Department for International Development in Nigeria, Mr Ben Mellor, stated the fight against corruption requires global efforts.

Tackling corruption, is no doubt, vital for sustaining economic stability and growth and it is for this reason that the Abuja Anti-Corruption Summit serves as a prelude to the twenty-sixteen International Anti-Corruption Summit coming up in London later in May.
