A complete of N100bn is to be spent by the Federal Government on particular intervention initiatives throughout the six geo-political zones of the nation, paperwork obtained from the Budget Office of the Federation have revealed.
The quantity was captured within the 2018 funds, which was signed by President Muhammadu Buhari final month.
The 2018 funds, which was designed to consolidate on the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, had a complete spending of N9.1tn made up of N2.87tn for capital expenditure, N3.51tn for recurrent (non-debt) expenditure and N2.01tn projected to be spent on debt servicing.
As acknowledged by the paperwork, the N100bn intervention initiatives can be applied by key ministries of the federal government.
Some of them are the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing; Ministry of Water Resources; and the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
Others are the ministries of Labour, Justice, Information and Culture, Health, Foreign Affairs, Environment, Education, Communications, Agriculture and Industry, Trade and Investment.
Some of the initiatives anticipated to be applied in the agricultural sector, below the zonal intervention are abilities acquisition for ladies in Katsina State at a value of N68.02m; building of boreholes in Zamfara State at a value of N30m; and distribution of fast-yielding seedlings to farmers in Jigawa State for N84.42m, amongst others.
In the training sector, a number of the interventions embody building of diagnostic centre for the Federal University in Ebonyi for N100m; provision of bathroom amenities and boreholes in some faculties in Lagos for N220m; provision of pupils’ desks for faculties in Bayelsa State for N50m; and completion of a mannequin major faculty in Rivers State for N30m.
For the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, there are plans to spend N150m to empower youths with computer systems in Lagos State; whereas enterprise help providers, similar to tricycles in Ekiti State, are to gulp N50m.
