Brand new details on FIFA 17's Ultimate Team mode have been revealed in the midst of annual video games convention Gamescom.
Gamescom, which this year runs from August 17-21 is often where EA Sports unveils details of the fresh title to the public ahead of a late September release.
FUT Champions is the headline new addition to Ultimate Team, in which players compete to qualify for the weekend league and are ranked on a global leaderboard to earn in-game rewards. The very best in the world will get a chance to compete in the FUT Championship Series, which has a huge prize pot of $1.3 million to tempt players into perfecting their style.
Ultimate Team will also have Squad Building Challenges in which scenarios - such as building a starting XI with just two nationalities and a chemistry of over 60 - can be played out for FIFA 17 rewards. This will also help to make use of players which in previous games had no value if you didn't want to keep them.
And there are brand new Ultimate Team legend cards for players to collect, including Paul Scholes, Carles Puyol, Juan Sebastian Veron and Marc Overmars, plus usual suspects such as Pele, George Best and Marco van Basten.
That's not the only new video FIFA fans could sink their teeth into, as a brand new trailer complete with former cover star Lionel Messi's new blonde haircut was unveiled on Tuesday.
Seasoned FIFA fans will enjoy the use of Blur's Song 2 in the trailer, a fun throwback to FIFA 98's soundtrack almost a decade ago!
FIFA 17 is expected to be release on September 29 across Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
