Liberia was on Thursday, sanctioned by FIFA for fielding a suspended player during a World Cup qualifier, but the penalty had no impact as they had already failed to earn a berth in Brazil.

Football's world governing stated.that Liberia was guilty of playing goalkeeper Nathaniel Sherman in their match against Angola on September 7.
