The 209 member nations of Fifa have one vote each (divided as shown below), cast in a secret ballot. A candidate will win the election on the first round of voting if they receive two-thirds of the votes.
If no one gains the 139 necessary votes, a second round will take place, in which a majority is needed for victory.

Who will win the election?
As the odds in the above boxes show, Gianni Infantino and Sheikh Salman are huge favourites. It would be a major shock if anyone but one of them won.
How will everyone vote?
The map at the top of this page indicates, Gianni Infantino can count on the votes of the majority of Uefa member associations, while he is likely to win the South American vote as well.
Asian countries have got behind their own president, Sheikh Salman, while he is also counting on the backing of the CAF. Many African countries have formally endorsed him but Infantino has claimed that half will rebel - and that could be crucial.
North America could also have a big say in who wins.
