Salisu Yusuf
After several days of keeping mum, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally reacted to the bribery scandal involving Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf.
Yusuf, who served as head coach, Gernot Rohr’s assistant at the just concluded Russia 2018 Worl Cup, was caught on camera receiving a bribe from an undercover Ghanaian journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who posed as a football agent.
The video was published by the BBC, as part of a documentary involving similar scandals in other African countries.
“For now, the NFF has commenced preliminary investigation into the matter to assist the Committee on Ethics and Fairplay,” a brief statement signed by NFF’s director of communications, Ademola Olajire, read.
Yusuf has, however, denied any wrongdoing since the scandal broke out, insisting he never demanded for money or promise the agents he would pick the players because of the cash they gave him.
As stated by him, players were picked on merit and their consistency.
