Part of a residential four-storey building at D Close, 401 Road, Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, was yesterday razed by fire.
The inferno, which started at about 3.40p.m, engulfed the entire four flats at the top most floors of the building. The cause of the inferno was said to be an electrical spark, which was later escalated by cooking gas cylinders and refrigerators’ located within the building.
No life was, however, lost in the inferno.
A resident in the neighborhood said: “Nobody could say what caused the fire, but we suspected an electrical spark, as power was just restored at the time. The fire started in the afternoon from one of the flats upstairs. Before, people could notice what was happening, it had spread everywhere, burning everything in the house.
“Everything in the four flats at the topmost floors got burnt completely. Then one woman, who knows someone at the fire service called them and pleaded with them to come over.
"But by the time they got here, the whole of the four flats was burnt leaving the occupants with nothing to their name.
"Although we thank God nobody died in the fire, lots of property were damaged."
