Flood resulting from a downpour has ravaged some parts of Oghara community in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State, sacking several hundreds of people .
The displaced persons, whose houses were destroyed in the flood, also lost properties worth millions of naira.
Based on what was gathered, the flood was worsened by heavy rainfall at about 5:30pm on Tuesday and left the inhabitants of Ibori Street, Ogini Road, Winners Chapel Road, Hausa quarters, Water Board Road, Mossoga College Junction and Atiwo Road at the mercy of the flood.
Although no life lost, according to reports, the flooding of the areas had become a source of worry to the residents of Oghara community, who have repeatedly appealed to the state government to come to their aid.
Some of the residents, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity for fear of being victimised, said the flooding of the areas was caused by a bad drainage system in the locality.
The residents accused the council boss, Mr. Solomon Golley, of negligence and apathy.
In a swift reaction, however, the council boss dispelled all allegations against him as untrue.
While assuring that the council was committed towards the development of the community, the council boss noted that drainages in some parts of the flood prone areas were being reconstructed.
