The Ekiti State Government has given financial support to 75 persons, whose homes and shops were flooded recently in Ikere-Ekiti, when River Osun overflowed its banks.
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has extended financial relief to the victims. This was mentioned by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in a statement yesterday.
The event was witnessed by Fayose’s deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola, who is an indigene of the town.
Speaking through Olusola, the governor said government had to present its token to the people, while waiting for the emergency agency. He, however, warned people against deliberately blocking the waterways and drainages or constructing structures close to river banks.
