Nollywood actress, Beverly Naya has blasted the way the media stereotype their interviews with female celebrities in the country.
Having her say on Twitter, Beverly Naya wrote that anytime ladies are interviewed, the focus is always on their marital status.
According to her, the concentration should be on the lives, careers, and aspirations of women, not who they plan to settle down with.
She added that she is astonished by this harsh reality women battle with every now and then.
Her words, βQuite unfortunate that when a woman grants an interview in this part of the world, the headline is nearly always about her marital status or opinions on marriage. Youβll spend 30 mins talking about your life, career, and aspirations only to have βmarriageβ be the focus. Wow,β
βMost common headlines used for women: βWhy Iβve chosen not to get marriedβ βWhy Iβm still not marriedβ βThe kind of man I want to marryβ βThe right man hasnβt found meβ βI will marry when God says I shouldβ βI will get married when the right man finds meβ βWhy Iβm single.ββ
