Tributes from the world of football are pouring in following the news that legendary boxer Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74 after a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

The former world heavyweight champion died at a US hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday after being admitted on Thursday with a respiratory illness.

Ali, the self-proclaimed greatest boxer of all time, transcended his sport through his sharp charisma before and after fights, earning the status as one of the most influential figures in history.

And several stars from football have since offered their condolences after hearing of Ali's passing, including France hero Zinedine Zidane and three-time Brazil World Cup winner Pele.
