Three years after being displayed as a concept, the Ka+ will be introduced on the Old Continent.

The supermini will be a more practical version compared of the Ka, with a five-door body style. AutoExpress reports that sales will start in the second quarter of this year.

"Don't just think of it as a cheap car. It's very roomy, will have very low cost of ownership and it'll have the driving dynamics of a Fiesta", said Ford of Europe boss, Jim Farley. "We're replacing the Ka with Ka+ to compete in that segment."

Despite being announced for Europe, Ford wasn’t too keen on releasing several details, however, the will share engines with the current Fiesta, except for the most powerful EcoBoost petrol unit, joined by numerous tech inside like the 4.2-inch infotainment, 2.3-inch TFT display between the clusters, climate control and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Prices for the "new" city car are believed to start around £8,000 ($11,360 equivalent), in the United Kingdom, and to go up to £10,000 ($14,200) for more expensive versions. In order to keep production costs low, the Ford Ka+ is expected to be manufactured in a developing market, most likely India.
